Today we left Mexican Hill Ranch and Ernie’s hospitality. The arrangement of the place was a little unusual. The nice covered eating area had a raised area immediately adjacent with 2 outhouses [real toilets but no sinks]. The doors had ¼” holes between the boards so determining if it was occupied was not hard. Sinks and toilets were in a different building. Still it was a very therapeutic day off.
This morning we rode through the Sam Houston National Forest. Beautiful but would not photograph well. Good pie at morning sag.
Tonight we are at Shepard Sanctuary. If El Cosmico in New Mexico defined bad funky campgrounds this place defines interesting funky campgrounds. They were so excited that Bubba was bringing 60 people that they built new toilets and showers for us. After 4+ weeks of camping together modesty is just not as critical.
Note the creative porch space, sculpture gardens and pile of wine bottles. Not sure if they are art or the wine equivalent of the stack of beer cans behind the Lazy Boy recliner. Life’s little mysteries.
We left The Sanctuary and it warmed up to be a nice day similar to yesterday. Such that we took no photos and little film which will be on tomorrows video.
