Miles and miles of Texas. We crossed into the central time zone last night. Breakfast was ready on time but in complete darkness. I tripped trying to find the coffee this morning. At least it quit raining and the wind shifted to WSW. The KOA campground hosts were delighted with the rain. It's been so dry in west Texas that 2 year-olds only know rain from picture books.
We could see the importance of water as we rode.
Lobo really got on the map. Check out their ad for their website. It occurred to us that we most of the counties we've passed through since Tucson have fewer people than a high rise apartment building in any major city.
Of course we needed to visit the Prada Store in Marfa. Yes shoes and bags are displayed. We are already styling so we didn't buy anything,
Lunch was in Valentine Texas at the library. The entire district has fewer than 30 students. The librarian, also the local Native American Chief, offered burritos and dessert for lunch. The 9 high school students are using them as a fund raiser for their spring trip --- to Italy.
Tonight we are in the El Cosmico camp ground in Marfa. The structure you see is the open air shower and bathroom, sans hot water or privacy. The shower was really pointless anyway since the dust was blowing. Wetness turned the road grit into a fine layer of mud. Remember the street sweeping scene in "Last Picture Show"?
