Triple Bypass 2014

This last weekend  was the Triple Bypass ride. This was the fourth time I have ridden this event. I signed up up for this event with several other friends and Rose. Rose caught a cold or something worse when we where in Alaska. She decided wisely not to ride and gave here packet to our friend Mike Humenik. Our friends Mike Molitor,Bill Jones and Doug May also road with me. Our other friend Earl TeBockhorst also road but gets up way before us and is a lot faster than we are.

Rose and Erich Meyer ran the sag for us. I cannot begin to tell you how great a job they did. Fresh drinks untold food massages and dry non sweaty clothes all when you needed them. Erich and Rose were there and offering encouragement.

The two Mikes and Doug took off first for I was waiting for Bill. Bill arrived but had to go back for his missing friend. He sent me on with his 32 year old friend Bob. I road with Bob ( a marathon runner) for about 9 miles but decided that nine miles a hour was all I could do and watched him disappear up the mountain, I had good ride up Squaw Pass and reunited with Bill at the sag with our trusty team of Erich and Rose.

We took off to catch the rest of our riders and were back with the two Mikes and Doug at Georgetown.  From there we were head for Loveland Ski area and lunch. After being feed wonderful lunch it was up Loveland Pass. This seemed easy compared to the evil bike path we had just come up. We became separated going up I got a little ahead going up but Bill blew my doors off coming down.

It was now time to climb Swan Mountain. A little three mile climb no more than a bump. But received  more cursing than any of the passes. We all caught up at the high school in Frisco and after ample pampering we were off for Ten mile Creek and Vail Pass. This was the easy part of the ride but there was some wining and sniveling by some.

We were met by some more pampering on top of Vail pass and then we were of down Vail Pass and to Avon. It was flight, like we had just began to ride. The bikes flew almost effortlessly all the way to Avon and the finish.

The video show coming down Squaw Pass, and the climbs to Georgetown and Loveland Pass. Batteries ran out at the top. A great day with good friends and a Triple without rain!
