Alaska Day 8

Oh the joy of sleeping a little late. It was especially nice since I have a cold. After we toured the Alaskan Sea Life Center. It's a very interesting combination of natural history museum,  and aquarium. There were even rescue animals there.

Then off to tour the town. It's getting ready for the big events of the year: 4th of July and the Mount Marathon race. The easier parts are 20% with the tougher parts at 60%. Yes, they do need to go both up and down. Total distance is 3.1 to 3.5 miles depending on the route each year. John was astounded by the amount of junk food being sold at an athletic event.

The murals and the views of the bay and surrounding mountains made for a special afternoon.

Rod, our tour guide was gracious enough to hall our bikes and luggage back to Anchorage so we didn't need to get them on the train. The Alaskan railway goes through some roadless areas and by several glaciers. It was hard to tell that we were arriving at 10:30 pm since it was as sunny as noon.
