The Great Adventure Countdown, Day 28

First, we want to thank Mike for generously sharing his expertise on biking, GoPro, film editing and Blogging and Erich for salvaging our first post.

Our area of Colorado typically gets one week of below zero temperatures. Last week was our week. Saturday was the first day with temperatures between 25 and 40. John drove the potential route first to make sure is was bike-passable.

It was also a day to continue experiments with the GoPro. This was the first day to try the rear mount as you'll see from the first half of the video.

There was a snow storm coming in fast from the west. John and Mike could watch the clouds obscuring the mountains and the snow falling on the foothills. To the east there were still blue skies. The sunlight bounced through the clouds above to create some fantastic "skyscapes". My favorite is a cylindrical cloud that appears as though it's bestowing a special blessing of light on a barn.

Winter riding had unique challenges. Besides the cold there are the additional obsticals of ice, snow, slush and debris. The lower lighting can make depth perception more difficult. There is additional reason for caution as drivers, even in Boulder County, are not expecting bikes out when it's below 40.

If any of you are challenged to ride more you can check out MapMyRide or MapMyFitness . You can send us your daily athletic accomplishments and see ours. These programs will also allow you to follow our progress live. You'll need to send us a friend request first.

Progress is making one more step in the right direction today than you did yesterday.
