Anchorage Day 3

Our day started on a new bike path and route through more modest neighborhoods, up on overpasses and to the west of the city to Eklutna Lake . On the way we passed other lakes with private residences on the ends but not in the middle. Each house had a float plane docked. They need the length of the lake for take off and landing. In Alaska one can get a pilot learners permit at 14 and license at 16 but can't get a driver's learner's permit until 18.

Guess it is quite It is already becoming difficult in Alaska to single out a few magnificent views. This day was even more spectacular thanks to the sunny skies.  After a long but steady climb we began to descend and came around a corner to this view.

Our tour organizer couple, Rod and Nancy, explained that the lake is 10 miles long and is the source of drinking water for Anchorage.
