The mileage was short today, about 42 miles. We traversed Tucson from NW to SE. Our route involved 40+ turns. Frequent stops to check the route sheet were necessary. Tucson is known as a bike friendly city. For about half of the ride we were on beautifully maintained bike paths. For the other half we were on bike lanes or directly in traffic. The 1.5 mile detour to the Pima Air Museum was especially challenging with road construction. Several of us walked around the museum. Most interesting. We would have explored more but none of us, John included, felt well enough and bike shoes are not the footwear of choice for museum-going.
When we arrived at camp we learned that the Bubba himself and the cook had succumbed the the intestinal viral pestilence. Riders and the some members of the tent/baggage crew pitched in and got the St. Patty's meal ready for us. It was served festively, complete with dumb hats, glasses and Guinness [ for those still well enough to enjoy it.]
We are blessed to have 3 doctors and 4 nurses as riders. They have been most helpful getting us through this illness. The entire group remains positive, encouraging and helpful. We can only hope that if you are ever traveling and get sick you are surrounded by a group like this one.
